“What draws me as an artist is to put brush to canvas and is both public and private. The world I reveal is a blend of both the ‘Occident’ and the ‘Orient’. My passion is centered on classic European art traditions such as the Renaissance masters, Rembrandt and the Flemish masters – Durer, Redon, Moreau and the Russian masters. The Pre-Raphaelites are gently kissed by my Chinese heritage, to create work that is as sensitive as it is powerful. I find the classical styles to be timeless, with a warmth and honesty that deal with contemporary concepts no longer offered with modern movements”.
